Amman- MEU has decided to increase the period of the Summer Semester from eight to ten weeks pursuant to the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
MEU Councils of Deans decided to approve the licensing of the new summer semester that will last for 10 weeks instead of eightas of the academic year 2017/2018.
The decision came in pursuant to the Jordanian Universities Law No. 20 of the year 2009 and its amendments, Article 17/b which states the powers and authorities enjoyed by the Council of Deans.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced its decision to a cancel plane related to two summer semesters during the following years after approving its failure and lack of academic visibility. This decision was based on a study and reactions of faculty members, students, and evenpresidents of universities after it turns out the inability of thefaculty member to go over the full material.
Moreover, the decision to cancel the plan of two summer semesters came in order to provide universities with a chance to rectify their financial positions by allowing universities to provide a summer semester of 12 credit hours for ten weeks while it permits any students who expected to be graduated to register for 15 credit hours at the summer semester.
The Middle East University was founded in 2005 as a Graduate Studies University with twelve specializations. Towards the beginning of the academic year 2008-2009 the university opened twenty specializations for both Graduate and Undergraduate students with the ongoing growth in staff and students.
