Amman- Middle East University hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Amman Mr. Marat Karajuz in an open dialogue with the students of the University on Turkey’s regional perspective and its humanitarian diplomacy.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, the President of the University Dr. Mohammad Al Hileh and a number of students and faculty staffs. During the meeting, Mr. Karajuz pointed out that MEU derived its name from its role as a leading academic gateway to the Middle East region. Moreover, the Turkish ambassador discussed the historical and cultural relations between Jordan and Turkey.
The Ambassador called for enhancing the joint cooperation in cultural and academic fields as part of the projects that aim at exchanging cultural experience to enhance the future friendships for the coming generations. Mr. Karajuz also spoke about the Turkish diplomacy from a humanitarian perspective. Furthermore, his Excellency talked about the crises in the region and neighboring countries and about the spread of terrorism.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, Karajuz stated that Turkey is one of the main supporters of the Palestinian issue and it has always stood with the Palestinian people for the last 50 years. He pointed out that Turkey refuses the Policy of settiling of Israel, as he also talked about Turkey's humanitarian support for the Syrian refugees in Turkey.
In his turn, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin praised the active politics and diplomacy of Turkey, and its role in the region. Dr. Nasereddin highlighted the importance of harnessing all academic and research potentials to create a suitable atmosphere for security, peace, progress and prosperity in the region. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees at MEU confirmed that the Middle East region is the place that the great powers are fighting on, and it is the place where the different sciences meet. On this philosophical basis, Middle East University built its essential strategy and adopted the motto of “Knowledge is Power”.
At the end of the meeting, an extensive dialogue took place between the Ambassador and the attendees on the latest developments in the region and the effectiveness of Turkish diplomacy.
The Ambassador and his delegation toured the campus and visited Media Training and Development Center, Labs of the Faculty of Engineering, Cultural and Sports Complex , Labs of the Faculty of Engineering and Pharmacy, Consulting and Training Center, and Language Center,
The Middle East University was founded in 2005 as a Graduate Studies University with twelve specializations. Towards the beginning of the academic year 2008-2009 the university opened twenty specializations for both Graduate and Undergraduate students with the ongoing growth in staff and students.
