Middle East Travel and Tourism Development Network was established by Middle East University in Jordan in 2018, based on the belief that travel and tourism are universal rights and leading global industries. Travel and tourism can transform the lives of individuals and societies sustainably on our planet if they are managed well and dealt with responsibly.
Through working together, Middle East Travel and Tourism Development Network aims at maximizing the benefits and unleash the full potentials from travel and tourism sector to benefit economic and social development in Middle East region.
Middle East Travel and Tourism Network is regionally oriented. Meanwhile, it operates in alignment with the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs: 2030).
Furthermore, the Network commits to the principles of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism - a policy paper adopted by United Nations World Tourism Organization UNWTO General Assembly in 1999 and the United Nations General Assembly in 2001, to lead its policies and strategic goals. This documents guides tourism development stakeholders towards achieving a responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism for all.
The Middle East University was founded in 2005 as a Graduate Studies University with twelve specializations. Towards the beginning of the academic year 2008-2009 the university opened twenty specializations for both Graduate and Undergraduate students with the ongoing growth in staff and students.
