AMMAN – The Faculty of Architecture and Design at Middle East University organised a workshop on the “Inclusive Workplaces for People with Disabilities” project in cooperation with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Arab Network for Civic Education – Anhre.
Attendees of the workshop included Prof. Aladdin Al Halhouli, the Vice President for Scientific Faculties, and the workshop was coordinated by faculty member Dr. Ayat Al Fouqara. Attendees discussed how to best create a channel for allowing persons with disabilities to integrate themselves into the labour markets of East Amman and Central Badia with the help of the Equal Opportunities Committee, which was founded in accordance with the 20th Persons with Disabilities Rights Law of 2017.
The attendees reviewed and analysed the available legislation, policies, and practices that protect disabled peoples’ labour rights, and suggested amendments that could be made to these guidelines based on their findings. They also cooperatively developed training materials for each group mentioned in the Forty Guide, which is a detailed document that addresses the stages of employment based on the principles and provisions of the Agreement for Persons with Disabilities Rights and the 20th Persons with Disabilities Rights Law of 2017.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Saleem Sharif, the Assistant to the President for Community Service, thanked the Anhre officials in attendance and expressed his appreciation for their efforts in conducting this workshop.
