Yesterday Saturday marked the last day of the Centenary Tournaments of football (five-a-side) and basketball (3X3) in the Green Field at MEU. The tournaments witnessed the participation of 38 football teams and 30 basketball teams from different governorates across the Kingdom.
Dr. Ahmad Nasereddin, sponsor of the tournaments, expressed his pride of the success of the tournaments that the university organized two years after the suspension of sports events due to Covid-19, and of the crowning of the winning teams in the semi-finals and finals of football and basketball tournament.
He confirmed that the university has taken all public safety and preventive measures to protect participants and the audience from the corona virus. He also pointed out the important role that official authorities and private organizations had in supporting the event.
The tournament, he said, enabled the discovery of several outstanding athletes with excellent skills that need more support and sponsorship opportunities.
The closing ceremony honored the winning teams in both the football and the basketball tournaments, in addition to the technical committee, the sponsoring entities and the judges of the two tournaments. The event was concluded by taking photos with the audience, the participants and the sponsor.
This tournament in a demonstration that MEU values the real partnership between the academic role and physical activity in the youth; a sector the university considers a cornerstone in its approach to excellence. It is also a way to prove it has faith in the role of active youth in building and advancing their country and that it stands behind it.
