Middle East University received three awards at the 4th Afro-Asian Innovation and Technology Forum, held at the University of Petra. Dr. Nahed Shaker, a representative of the United Nations, attended the event with distinguished academics, innovators, and professionals.
The forum represents a shift towards inclusive development models, recognising the potential of emerging economies to shape the future of technology.
The university teams won second place in the Robotics and Natural Disasters track, third place in the Internet of Things and Green Energy track, and second place with distinction in the Software Leaders track.
Prof. Laith Shehab, a faculty member at the Faculty of Information Technology, represented the university at the forum as a judge on the main judging committee.
In this regard, Dr. Odai Maaitah, Dean of the College of Information Technology, stated that the forum’s primary importance lies in overcoming the digital divide, especially at a time when many countries confront restrictions on accessing and adopting advanced technologies, which hinder their social and economic progress, adding that the participation of students demonstrates the university’s optimal investment in the minds of its members to facilitate knowledge transfer, capacity building, and technology dissemination.
It is also worth mentioning that the students, Laith Jaber, Yazeed Mowafi, Alaa Al-Jabaa, Mohammed Barham, Youssef Badr, Muhannad Abu Sel, Mohammed Aliwat, Anas Al-Sayed, Abada Moqbel, and Abdullah Al-Khatib, were the participants in the forum.
