Amman: During a dialogue session organized by the Consultancy, Training, and Languages Centre (CTLC) at Middle East University, former Minister of Labour Nayef Istitieh emphasised the importance of economically empowering young people. He argued that this is an investment in human capital that can achieve sustainable development. Providing young people with skills and knowledge enhances their productivity and employability, making them valuable contributors to the labour market. This, in turn, enhances the overall competitiveness and flexibility of economies in an increasingly globalised and knowledge-based world.
During the event, which was attended by the Director of the Consultancy, Training, and Languages Centre, Prof. Anis Al-Mansour, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ayman Al-Khazaileh, several faculty members, and a group of students, it was highlighted that innovative solutions and collective action are required to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as climate change, unemployment, and inequality. Economically empowered youth can contribute to addressing these challenges through sustainable business practices, social entrepreneurship, or advocacy efforts.
Dr. Al Mansour stated that youth economic empowerment is not only a matter of social responsibility but also a crucial element for sustainable development and prosperity. Societies can unlock their potential as an engine for economic growth, innovation, and social progress by investing in education, developing a skills and knowledge tree, and engaging the energies of youth.
By investing in higher education and ensuring equal access for all, the university plays a crucial role in the economic empowerment of youth, enabling societies to build a better future for generations to come,” said Dr. Ayman Al Khazaileh, Dean of Student Affairs.
