Amman: The students of the Environmental Protection Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs at Middle East University undertook an archaeological excursion, during which they visited several sites, including Al-Abed Palace and Iraq Al-Amir Caves. The excursion was conducted under the guidance of the university and enabled the students to engage directly with the tangible remnants of past civilisations, thereby facilitating an understanding of their historical and cultural contexts.
The university maintains a programme of intensive trips throughout the academic year, which serves to embed a set of values in its students. These values include social responsibility, academic seriousness, and intellectual curiosity.
The excursion prompted students to engage with archaeological sites as tangible links to the collective heritage of humanity, fostering a profound appreciation for the diversity and richness of past cultures.
The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the students to gain insight into the challenges associated with the preservation of cultural heritage and the responsibilities of the community and research system towards archaeology and ancient sites. This is of paramount importance in promoting responsible and ethical practices.
