Amman: The workshops held at the Military Media Institute by Middle East University on the criteria of military strategies, media dynamics, and audience psychology were well received by participants from the Jordanian Armed Forces and security agencies.
The workshops, presented by Dr. Saleem Sharif, Assistant to the President of the University, sought to examine the ways in which military institutions use media to influence public perception, manage information, and achieve strategic objectives. Additionally, they discussed the psychological tactics employed to influence target audiences, the ethical implications of using media and psychology in military operations and public opinion management, and the capacity of participants to critically analyse media content and identify psychological manipulation techniques.
In a similar vein, a discussion paper presented at the Counter-Narcotics Conference, entitled “The Role of Media in Counter-Narcotics”, delineated the role of the media in safeguarding the societal system and reinforcing national security against the scourge of drugs, while also outlining the accompanying challenges and ethical considerations that must be meticulously addressed. By providing support for ethical journalism, media literacy, and collaborative efforts, it is possible to enhance the effectiveness of the media in addressing drug-related issues and contribute to the development of a healthier and more enlightened society.
