Amman: A total of 550 male and female competitors participated in the third Middle East University Karate Championship, aiming to secure the championship cup. The event was overseen by the Jordanian Karate Federation.
The university hosted the tournament in collaboration with the The’ab Al-Fajir Club, with the objective of contributing to the comprehensive development of children, promoting sportsmanship, and facilitating the exchange of experiences.
The university’s philosophy is based on the conviction that its function extends beyond the confines of the educational domain, functioning as a hub for social, cultural, and physical advancement. By hosting the tournament, the university exemplifies its role as a leader in providing resources and facilities for the benefit of the wider community, thereby unifying sport as a vehicle for positive change.
The tournament was designed with the objective of fostering the holistic development of the participants. This was done in recognition of the fact that the sport of karate instils a number of core values, including discipline, respect, and perseverance, in those who practise and learn it. These values are of particular importance in the context of the tournament, as they provide the participants with a framework for personal growth.
The tournament was overseen by international coach Mohammed Al-Hadid and hosted by the university, which adheres to the value of community engagement and proactively provides its facilities across its various locations for the benefit of educational and recreational activities initiated by external organisations in a range of fields.
