About the Department

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication aims to prepare generations of journalists capable of effectively participating in building the nation and enriching the media field with practical experiences and skills. The department strives to improve the level of students through a comprehensive study plan, following modern teaching methods, and attracting journalists and professional experts working in the field to train students. This approach aims to develop the journalistic personality capable of dealing with the data of the modern communication revolution and meeting the requirements of the digital communication era. The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication opens up wide horizons for work in the field of digital, print, visual and audio media, news agencies, and public relations departments both domestically and internationally.

Learning Outcomes of the Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication Program:

Knowledge:

  1. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of modern communication and media theories, and their role in shaping political, social, economic, and cultural systems.
  2. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the principles, concepts, and foundations of journalism and media.

Skills:

  1. Master journalistic skills, tools, and critical thinking to solve complex problems in the field of journalism and media.
  2. Demonstrate specialized linguistic, conceptual, professional, and technical skills in writing and editing news, reports, and investigations for publication across various media platforms.
  3. Demonstrate research skills and the ability to obtain and verify information from its sources.
  4. Evaluate the functions of planning in public relations and crisis management in various organizations.
  5. Evaluate and practice the functions of design in media content, and its role in achieving persuasion and influence.
  6. Evaluate modern technologies and the mechanisms of their use in the production of media content across media platforms.

Objectives of the Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication Program:

  3. To provide students with research, writing, and editing skills; aimed at producing journalistic and media materials of professional quality according to the practices and standards of journalistic and media institutions and related entities.
  4. To provide students with planning, evaluation, and design skills for media content across media platforms.
  5. To train students on digital skills; aimed at using them in the production of journalistic and media content.
  6. To empower students to commit to the ethical, legal, and regulatory aspects of the production of media projects.
  7. To qualify students to be able to take responsibility, make decisions, and work effectively within teamwork in the context of media work.
