AMMAN- Under the framework of supporting the promotion of the tourism sector, MEU offers two scholarships under the name Dr. Taleb Rifai, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The scholarships came as an honor for Dr. Rifai’s efforts in managing the organization to support the tourism sector despite the obstacles and difficulties experienced by the region.
The two scholarships were announced during the University's participation in the First Regional Conference on Tourism in MENA Cities: “Competitiveness for Sustainable Growth ". Dr. Sana Shiqwara, President of the Arabic Network For Promoting Intra Tourism has represented the University in this conference.

The Middle East University was founded in 2005 as a Graduate Studies University with twelve specializations. Towards the beginning of the academic year 2008-2009 the university opened twenty specializations for both Graduate and Undergraduate students with the ongoing growth in staff and students.
