AMMAN – Middle East University has notably improved its ranking in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which is based on webometric and bibliometric indicators and ranks more than 20 thousand universities from around the world.
According to the Department of Information Technology, the University’s World Rank moved up from rank 4609 to rank 3617, while the University’s website moved up by five ranks in the Country Rank, placing in rank 11.
According to the indicators set by Webometrics, MEU placed second in the Impact Rank amongst other private universities in Jordan, and fourth in comparison to all Jordanian universities. This is considered to be the most vital indicator as its represents 50% of the overall evaluation.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is one of the foremost international ranking systems, as it covers more than 20 thousand universities from around the world. It is issued by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. It aims to evaluate and enhance higher education institutions’ online presence, promote scientific research, and encourage the establishment of open-access journals and repositories.
