Under the patronage of Prof. Anees Al Mansour, Vice President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, and in the presence of faculty deans, MEU held a seminar on campus where the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Dr. Abdel Naser Abu Al Basal, talked about the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. Abu Al Basal explained the importance of Ramadan, not only as a month of fasting and worship, but also as a month of forgiveness and good deeds, of helping those in need, and of connection with others where conflicts and disputes are resolved.
He also emphasised the importance of avoiding extravagance during Ramadan, for it is only part of worship to economize one’s spending, give to the poor, and spread kindness through the act of giving. Such an attitude during the holy month reminds the Muslim that the purpose of Ramadan is to be closer to God than to earthly things.
He also spoke about the importance of alms giving, some of which must be given to the relatives in need, and the rest to poor families in the form of Zakat. This, he said, creates a community where everyone feels fulfilled and happy.
At the end of the seminar, Prof. Anees Al Mansour, Vice President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, granted His Eminence the MEU plaque.
