AMMAN – Middle East University, represented by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (IEC), will partner with Umniah’s business incubator to launch the Jordan’s Entrepreneur 2020 project. This project is set to be the first of its kind at any Jordanian university and aims to support Jordanian youth.
According to the memorandum of understanding signed by both MEU and Umniah, Umniah’s Business Incubator “The Tank” will dedicate its resources and expertise in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation to launch this joint project.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Ziad Shatara, the CEO of Umniah, and Prof. Mohammad Al Hileh, the University President. Officials representing the two parties also attended the signing ceremony.
Commenting on this cooperation, Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, the Chairman of MEU’s Board of Trustees, said, “Through this partnership, the University looks to achieve its vision and mission to prepare the leaders of the future and foster an educational environment that promotes creativity and innovation.”
Prof. Mohammad Al Hileh, the University President, also remarked, “This agreement is but one of a series of partnerships that MEU is planning to participate in so that it can expand its reach and reputation on both a local and international scale.”
Eng. Ziad Shatara, the CEO of Umniah, stated, “Umniah is committed to supporting both the academic and entrepreneurial sectors, as demonstrated by its business incubator ‘The Tank’.” He then pointed out that this MoU is part of Tank’s strategic plans, which aims at supporting young entrepreneurs by teaching them the skills necessary for their success in their future business endeavours.
Dr. Abdelrahman Zuraik, the Director of IEC, noted, “This MoU will be the bedrock for the shared understanding and future cooperation between MEU and Umniah. Both parties will contribute to each other’s success by cooperating to develop the ideal environment for start-ups in Jordan. MEU will participate in the events and competitions of “The Tank”, and will launch the Jordan’s Entrepreneur 2020 project, which will be open to all Jordanian university students, in order to support the creative youth who will lead Jordan to a brighter future.”
