
Middle East University and the Jordan Industrial Cities Company have entered into a memorandum of understanding, with the stated aim of enhancing cooperation between the academic and industrial environments. The memorandum calls for the investment of the outputs of scientific research and university human resources to support and develop the industrial sector.
The memorandum was signed by the President of the University, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, and the General Manager of the Jordan Industrial Cities Company, Mr. Omar Jweyad. This agreement is an integral part of the university’s broader strategy to strengthen its partnership with economic and industrial institutions. The primary objectives of this initiative are to enhance the practical skills of students and to promote innovation and applied research within the Kingdom.
In this regard, Prof. Al-Mahadin, in the presence of the Director of the Legal Department, Prof. Anis Al-Mansour, the Dean of the Faculty of Business, Prof. Abdulaziz Al-Sharbati, and the faculty member Dr. Maha Al-Sheikh, underscored the significance of this agreement in fostering integration between the academic and industrial sectors. She explained that Middle East University prioritises enhancing students’ competencies and preparing them to meet the demands of the labour market through various initiatives, including field training and applied research.
In his remarks, Mr. Omar Joyaad, in the presence of the company’s delegation, underscored that the establishment of strategic partnerships with academic institutions serves as a catalyst for stimulating innovation and fostering the development of national industries in a sustainable manner. He further elaborated that these partnerships play a pivotal role in the formulation of creative solutions to address the economic and technological challenges posed by the evolving global landscape. The integration of academic expertise and industry needs, as highlighted by Mr. Joyaad, is identified as a crucial element in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development that benefits the national economy in its entirety.
The Memorandum of Understanding encompasses the implementation of several qualitative initiatives designed to achieve added value for the industrial sector and higher education, including providing training opportunities for university students in factories, employing graduates within companies operating in industrial cities, integrating academic education with practical training in factories to prepare a generation with advanced practical skills that meet market requirements, supporting students to launch their own projects that promote industrial innovation, and studying the possibility of establishing a liaison office within industrial cities to provide immediate solutions to the requirements of the industrial sector.
