
Dr. Mohammed Abu Halqa, a faculty member at the Faculty of Media at Middle East University, presented a specialised educational seminar on the importance of media and informatics education, in which he discussed the dimensions of media interaction in the digital age and the importance of building critical awareness in the face of misinformation and the spread of fake news.
The seminar witnessed a prominent official presence, headed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Dr. Zaid Nuwaisseh, along with the participation of a number of employees from the Ministries of Health, Culture, and Communication.
The seminar focused on reviewing the essential role of media education in enhancing the ability of individuals to analyse media content in its various forms, both traditional and digital, in addition to addressing effective mechanisms to counter disinformation and how to develop critical and analytical skills among the general public and decision-makers as well.
The seminar addressed the challenges facing societies in the digital media era, especially with the growing reliance on social media as the main platforms for news consumption and the consequent risks related to the rapid spread of inaccurate or fabricated information.
