Middle East University played an invaluable role in the Kazan Global Youth Summit, a distinguished assembly of the foremost experts in the domain of youth policy and innovation, hosted by the Russian Federation and sponsored by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The summit, which was attended by representatives from 43 countries, including member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and BRICS, provided a forum for discussing some of the most critical issues confronting young people in the present era.
The summit addressed a number of key issues, including the transformative impact of digitalisation, the role of cutting-edge tools in shaping youth policy, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence.
In a presentation delivered by Dr. Saddam Al Mashaqbeh, Director of the Media Training Centre at Middle East University, the university’s proactive stance in empowering the next generation was emphasised. Additionally, the presentation addressed the university’s strategic initiatives, which are designed to equip youth with essential skills in the technological and social fields. This initiative is at the core of the university’s establishment of specialised leadership and training centres.
He elucidated the pivotal role that young people play at the university in influencing institutional policies and governance frameworks. He emphasised that this participatory approach is not merely a symbolic gesture but is, in fact, a fundamental tenet of the university’s philosophy. By incorporating young people into the decision-making process, the university acknowledges the distinct perspectives and inherent understanding of the challenges they confront.
