The ‘Women and Leadership in Higher Education’ network project, in partnership with the University of Strathclyde in the UK and funded by the British Council, is a significant milestone in the Middle East University’s commitment to building an image of serious, responsible, and committed women in higher education, with a distinct focus on social inclusion.
This followed the conclusion of an event celebrating International Women’s Day, which was attended by the British Deputy Ambassador, Hazel Mowbray, and the President of the university, Prof. Salam Al Muhadeen, the network’s chairperson.
The event, titled ‘Reflections on Women’s Leadership: A Safe Space to Talk’, provided a platform for over 50 female leaders to discuss fostering a supportive environment for women to thrive.
Prof. Al-Mahadeen remarked that the network aims to build a more inclusive and equitable academic environment for women, not only promoting gender equality but also practicing leadership.
Mowbray added that the network aims to empower women in Jordan to undertake leadership roles, drive organisational excellence, and contribute to national development goals.
