His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hassan Bin Talal, President of the Arab Thought Forum, officially marked the launch of the Middle East Dialogue Centre at Middle East University on Wednesday. The opening dialogue session, entitled ‘Youth and the Problem of Dialogue, the Knowledge Gap, the Value System, and Future Prospects,’ underscored the significance of investing in human capital and adopting comprehensive visions rather than merely undertaking project-based initiatives.
His Highness emphasised that authentic security is contingent on the promotion of human dignity, the maximisation of commonalities, and the cultivation of cooperation in the Levant and the region.
He underscored that effective governance is predicated on the recognition of the other and the establishment of close collaboration with the local community to empower citizens as active partners.
His Highness underscored the pivotal role of knowledge-based media and the establishment of an inclusive national discourse founded on the power of truth rather than the right of force, reinforcing the necessity of establishing a comprehensive knowledge basis encompassing a myriad of deprivations to identify diverse aspects of need.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University, Dr. Yaqoub Nasereddin, stated that the establishment of the Middle East Dialogues Centre, in the presence of His Highness the Prince, encourages the university to further examine the practical reasons for the absence of cross-border thinking, with the aim of ensuring the resurgence of the nation and its legitimate right to freedom, independence, and human dignity.
Additionally, Dr. Nasereddin emphasised that Middle East University has adopted the concept of disseminating governance practices within the Arab educational sector. In this regard, a general secretariat of the Arab Universities Governance Council has been established in Amman, with the objective of deepening the principles of participation, transparency, and accountability in the administration of academic institutions. The primary mission of this secretariat is to transform these institutions into centres of expertise that can provide support and guidance to their Arab counterparts in implementing effective governance frameworks.
Following the conclusion of the session, which was moderated by Dr. Hani Al-Badri, a faculty member at the Faculty of Media, the attendees participated in an extensive discussion, during which His Highness responded to questions and addressed enquiries from the students and other participants.
