The General Assembly meeting of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Middle East University placed particular emphasis on the importance of establishing close and robust mentoring partnerships with the objective of preparing students to become active members of the advanced architecture and design community.
One of the primary subjects addressed at the meeting was the faculty’s dedication to sustainability and resilient design, which has emerged as a pivotal element within the global architectural discourse.
The meeting demonstrated that the faculty’s projects, research, and academic programmes are becoming increasingly focused on environmental responsibility. This encompasses the design of energy-efficient buildings, the utilisation of sustainable materials, and the creation of structures that are adapted to the effects of climate change.
In his remarks, Dr. Ayman Awad, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, stated that the objective of the meeting was to incorporate global perspectives into the design curricula, thereby enabling students to gain awareness of global design trends and their complex cultural and social contexts.
He also highlighted that the meeting addressed the ongoing implementation of training programmes that enhance the learning experience by providing students with exposure to diverse architectural traditions and contemporary challenges in the context of the emergence of the concept of smart, green, and sustainable cities.
