Amman: The Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences at Middle East University hosted a specialised training course in Arabic calligraphy, with the objective of enhancing students’ competencies in Naskh and Raqaa scripts. These scripts are characterised by their adherence to precise rules and techniques, which serve to preserve the cultural and linguistic identity of the region.
The course was overseen by Dr. Khalid Faraj, a faculty member at the faculty, who facilitated an immersive learning experience encompassing a comprehensive review of the traditional Arabic calligraphy principles and the integration of technology and creativity. This approach enabled the participants to develop paintings that embody balance and elegance.
In recognition of their commitment and excellence, the participants were awarded certificates of participation, and their work was showcased in the Arabic calligraphy corner of the Arabic Language Spaces exhibition, which was organised to commemorate World Arabic Language Day.
This event is a reflection of the university’s commitment to perpetuate the essence of Arabic calligraphy to future generations through innovative training programmes that reinforce the connection between the authentic heritage and the demands of the contemporary era.
