Amman: Students from the Faculty of Law at Middle East University had the privilege of interacting directly with the President of the Legislation and Opinion Bureau, Prof. Fayyad Al-Qudah, during a scientific day organised by the faculty. This dialogue mainly focused on the pivotal role the Bureau plays in developing, evaluating, and enacting laws and legislation in a manner that is consistent with legal standards and public policy objectives.
The scientific day was attended by the Vice President of the University, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Ahmed Al-Louzi, the University’s Legal Advisor, Prof. Anis Al-Mansour, faculty members, and students.
In this context, Dr. Al-Qudah stated that the Bureau’s objective is to safeguard the integrity, coherence, and efficacy of the legal framework, in addition to ensuring that proposed legislation is consistent with existing laws and constitutional provisions.
He further elucidated that the Bureau provides legal opinions on proposed draft laws and existing laws, which assists legislators in comprehending the legal context and potential issues associated with legislation.
In his own words, Prof. Al-Louzi elucidated that the scientific day serves as a practical guide for students to be part of shaping the legal landscape, as well as providing them with a package of legislative frameworks that will meet the needs of society and reduce its challenges.
The scientific day included a dialogue that explored the role of political parties, their work, and their impact in a democratic society. Additionally, a mock trial on elections and legal procedures related to electoral disputes was conducted.
