The General Assembly of the Faculty of Media at Middle East University convened to discuss the challenges encountered by students of media studies in the context of technological advancements, evolving social and cultural dynamics, and the intricate processes involved in the creation, dissemination, and consumption of information.
The meeting centred on the applied curricula as the fundamental element of the teaching process at the faculty, with a view to integrating them with the latest industry trends and technological advances.
In this aspect, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hanan Al-Sheikh, stated that the creation of an elaborate narrative signifies that it has undergone a series of stages, traversing various realms, including the news and cinema industries, as well as the facilities provided by the Faculty for student use. These include the option for students to produce a podcast, create a documentary film, develop a marketing campaign, or narrate a story, all of which are available in the new faculty building in the shape that they aspire to. Additionally, she observed that the faculty’s programmes provide students with the opportunity to pursue a range of roles, including those of producer, director, editor, sound engineer, and presenter.
