“It is a day to honour the achievements of women throughout history and across cultures and to acknowledge the power of women who have fought tirelessly for their rights and the rights of others.”
This is how the Dean of Student Affairs at Middle East University, Dr. Ayman Al-Khazaileh, began his speech at a session organised by the Dean’s Office on the occasion of International Women’s Day, adding, in the presence of representatives of the Dean’s Office and students from the university, that “we are at a difficult juncture, as the rights of women in Gaza are just talking points that have no place in the real world, and that it is necessary to achieve the recognition of the rights of their people.”.
The Psychological Counsellor of the Dean’s Office, Prof. Aseel Zureiqat, affirmed that International Women’s Day is a rallying cry to reinforce women’s voices, defend their rights, and confront the current situation, emphasizing that this is done in order to build a more fair and equitable world for all.
The audience further had the opportunity to hear the success stories of a number of female students who are working to build a more fair and equitable world for all, as well as watch a folklore show from different Arab communities.
